Welcome back to the 2022-2023 school year everyone!

Welcome back St. Monica Community! I hope everyone had a restful and enjoyable summer. On behalf of our staff, we would like to extend a warm welcome to the students, families, and staff members, both returning and new to the St. Monica Community. I know our students will enjoy playing, working and learning together as they endeavour to reach their God-given potential.  I look forward to working in partnership with our parents, guardians, the Catholic School Council and  the St. Justin, Martyr parish in providing excellent programming and the very best educational experiences possible for all of our students. On Wednesday, September 7th, we will welcome over 400 students! We hope to see you all at the Annual Curriculum Night on Thursday, September 22nd. Please note that supervision begins at 8:45 a.m.and the morning entry bell is at 9:00 a.m – there will be no warning bell.

Bus Transportation:  Please check the “Find your Bus Stop” tab at  School Bus City to confirm your child’s busing arrangements for September 2022.  Parents and students are encouraged to develop alternate care/ transportation arrangements in the event of service disruptions or if unable to pick up their child(ren) on time. Service disruptions, including route delays or cancellations, will be posted on a daily basis with the aim to provide parents and students as much notice as possible. Route delays will be reported through the Late Bus Report. Please refer to the Late Bus Report prior to leaving for the Bus Stop in the morning and afternoon.

I will be sending emails through School Messenger to update you on significant school events and I would kindly ask you to refer to the school website https://sma.ycdsb.ca/  for updates and pertinent information.

Please review the following important notes:

  • Kindly take the time to review the  2022-2023 COVID-19 Health and Safety Measures – Families
  • Students and staff should perform daily COVID-19 screening before arriving at school using the https://covid-19.ontario.ca/school-screening/ has been revised as of August 31, 2022. The screening tool provides direction on how long to stay home and how long to wear a mask; follow the most recent screening tool’s direction.
  • Masks are welcomed for those who wish to wear them, but masking is optional
  • Rapid Antigen Tests will continue to be provided to staff and students “upon request” or upon return from an absence due to illness (i.e. having experienced COVID-19 symptoms)
  • Hand sanitizer will continue to be provided and the expectation for practicing proper hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette will remain in effect.
